Blame it on Carrie Bradshaw
Not much of a reader? You can listen too!
A baker, a nurse, and a writer?
It’s true, I wear many hats and according to my father, maybe a little *too* many. Yet, writing has always been one of my favorite hobbies and one I’m eager to share with you all.
So, why am I writing to you all now?
Well, it was a late spring night. Rain tapped on my window, the clock blinked past 10 as I laid across the bed, riding the high of finishing my to-do list for the day. With nothing left to accomplish, I clicked the TV on and binged a few episodes of Sex and the City. And as usual, I found myself completely confused and enamored by Carrie Bradshaw’s obsession with Big. (Seriously—why do we romanticize emotionally unavailable men?)
Somewhere between Carrie battling a writing deadline and battling her own bad decisions, something stirred in me. I hadn’t written in a long time—not seriously, not with any sense of urgency or purpose. So, I did what Carrie probably should’ve done: I decided to write. I put on some classical music, opened my laptop, and let myself return to the one thing that’s always made me feel most like myself.
Some of you may remember my first blog, LoLo’s Space, where I shared travel stories and the occasional journey of a recipe. I’ve always struggled with the pressure of publishing content because I feel like if people are going to take the time to read something, it better be worth their while. Carrie gets that. Her readers want juicy, messy, real. And while I can’t give you the inside scoop on dating in Manhattan or why women love walking red flags, I can invite you into my little corner of the world—and maybe ask some less provocative, but equally honest, questions along the way.
So, who is LoLo?
Over the next few weeks I will answer this question and tell you all *who* LoLo is, how LoLo’s Cakes came to be, and what the future looks like. If you're curious about my journey, I’m excited you’re here. Stick around for stories, laughs, maybe a recipe or two… and if nothing else, grab some LoLo’s Cakes before you go!
Thanks for supporting this little dream of mine.
Until next time,
LoLo
